Deepa brings over 19 years as an educator. She started as an elementary special education teacher in New York City Public Schools, grew to love teaching math and found herself invested in nurturing positive math identities in her students. Deepa has worked as a professional learning consultant for Math Solutions, facilitating professional learning courses and providing in-classroom coaching services. Currently she is an elementary math coach at the Cambridgeport School. Deepa holds a Master of Science in Education from Purdue University (Indiana) and a Master of Science Leadership in Mathematics Education from Bank Street College (New York). Deepa believes that everyone can understand and make sense of mathematics through play, rich tasks, inquiry and discourse. She enjoys sharing her love for teaching and learning mathematics and making new math friends.
