Dr. Melissa Stange is member of several professional associations including the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM),  the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), the Computer Science for All and CS for All Teachers organizations. She serves as the technology peer group lead for the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). She is member of the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC), where she develops and updates curricular guidelines in for associate programs. She is currently the program lead for the computer science program at Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC). Melissa also teaches cybersecurity, information systems technology, and business courses. Her primary research area is in computer science education, which spans from best practices in education to policy development in community colleges.
