Jakoya Wilkins is a Math Enrichment Teacher at the Helen Y. Davis Leadership Academy. Jakoya is also the Head women’s basketball coach at Match Charter High where she brings years of basketball experience to the program. In 2017, Jakoya opened her first business within the community titled V2III also known as 523 boutique. Supporting local artists and designers in the community is something Jakoya prides herself on. Always looking to give back to the community Jakoya has participated in numerous community events and has been known to be a voice for the youth. Jakoya is dedicated to helping inner-city kids reach their full potential through sports and mentorship. A sibling of six, and growing up in one of Boston’s toughest neighborhoods, Jakoya had to distance herself for the troubles that came with the stereotypes placed on her. A graduate of Salem State University and a four-year collegiate athlete who was inspired by her challenging childhood has shown that with great mentors and sports you are able to outshine the odds.
